Altrincham is a Cheshire leafy suburb. 10 mile away from Manchester City Centre. Altrincham was established as a market town in 1290. The original Market had an extensive refurbishment, the market opened at the end of 2014 as six day-a-week ‘refectory’ style eatery space filled with permanent high quality traders from around the region. From bakers, a beer and a lunch-time bite, the market offers visitors a wealth of choice. They also hold different themed Sunday markets, including Home, House and Garden and Vintage Fashion and Furniture.
Rich in History
• Albert Place and the Old Market Place – was the former site of the Butter Market and where the stocks still stand.
• The Old Market Chapel was originally a coaching inn where post and newspapers were delivered.
• Chapel Street in Altrincham was dubbed the ‘bravest street in England’ after 161 men from there volunteered in the First World War.
• The market trader statue was the work of leading artist Colin Spofforth in 2007.
